  • Abstract
An infinite perfect electric conducting (PEC) plane on top of which lies a 2-D PEC thin object with edges (bump) is excited by a plane wave. The overall structure is covered by a slab dielectric superstrate. The purpose of this work is to determine the superstrate´s thickness and permittivity such that the contribution due to the bump on the far-field is reduced, while simultaneously the plane wave reflection by the bump-free structure remains close to that by the infinite PEC plane. A semi-analytic integral equation method is developed to determine the structure´s scattering characteristics. Numerical simulations are also presented verifying the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
