Abstract
For the issue of wireless sensor network deployment in a deterministic monitoring area with obstacles, a low cost heterogeneous sensor network deployment method HSN-Delaunay based on Delaunay Triangulation is proposed in this paper. A contour-based deployment is performed to eliminate the coverage blind-points near the boundary of monitoring area and obstacles firstly. Based on the triangulation of the monitoring area, the center of the circumcircle with maximum radius is selected to be the candidate deployment location. The type of sensor with higher coverage and lower waste cost is deployed after the comparison between original sensor and heterogeneous sensor. Experimental result shows that the proposed HSN-Delaunay algorithm is efficient in increasing coverage while minimizing the cost.
