Abstract
Large photonic band gaps have been obtained by sweeping the parameters of sub-lattices inside the unitary cells of square lattice photonic crystals by using an efficient frequency domain finite element method where periodical boundary conditions have been imposed. PBGs in silicon/air photonic crystals for both polarization modes have considered.
