Abstract
The turbine-generator set is a complex control system with nonlinear and strong coupling characteristics. It is very important to make sure that the turbine-generator set work stably. Reference presented a new stability criterion based on numerical computing and simulation, which could solve this problem. The New Stability Criterion expanded the sufficient conditions of Lyapunov´s direct method into necessary and sufficient conditions for local stability. It provides a standard and simple way to select the energy-like function. Some refinements of the new criterion are made in this paper. And this paper applies the new criterion on hydropower generating control system stability analysis. Foziling Hydropower Generating Station in Anhui province is selected as the application example. Modeling and stability analysis based on numerical calculation and system simulation for this hydropower station is carried out on the software platform of MATLAB/Simulink. The practical operation process proved that the new stability criterion is valid.
