Abstract
Summary form only given. The phase-change optical disk has become the matured technology having high sensitivity of around 10 mW and high-cycle characteristics of more than 500,000 times for the multimedia phase-change systems. The phase-change optical disk has a quadrilayer structure; a bottom dielectric layer, active layer, upper dielectric layer, and reflection layer. The layer materials are ZnS-SiO/sub 2/ mixture dielectric layer, GeTe-Sb/sub 2/Te/sub 2/-Sb mixture active layer, and Al-alloy reflection layer.
