Abstract
Advances in technology have made possible the implementation of feedback control systems over computer networks. In applications that allow the use of networked control systems one can also take advantage of increased flexibility, ease of installation and maintenance and perhaps a reduction in cost. Network delay or more importantly network unavailability are major disadvantages that need to be addressed. In this paper we make use of a split controller architecture and develop a methodology for controller design. Our formulation and solution method exploit robust control design tools. We apply the design process on a specific example and carry out simulations with hardware in the loop using MATLAB´s rapid prototyping tools RTW/xPC Target
