  • Abstract
Summary form only given. Silica fibers exhibiting high second-order nonlinearities (SON) could be used to develop a new generation of all-fiber electro-optic modulators, switches, tunable filters, and frequency converters. A typical fiber used in our experiments had 0.32 NA, 3 /spl mu/m-core diameter, 125-/spl mu/m outer diameter, 50-/spl mu/m hole diameter, and 9-/spl mu/m interhole spacing.
