Abstract
Summary form only given. To date, the experimental results reported on high-power atomic xenon lasers have involved beams that are the sum of output powers generated on several lines oscillating simultaneously. The need therefore exists to incorporate wavelength selectivity into the overall laser design. The most effective approach to solving this problem may involve selective excitation of the relevant atomic states, but the approach reported here relies on the use of wavelength-selecting resonator designs. Results will be presented on the spectral emission characteristics of the laser under varying operational conditions of gas mixture, pressure, radio-frequency-discharge characteristics, and power loading.
