  • Abstract
Summary form only given. Photorefractive semiconductors, with their faster response speed than oxide materials, are attractive candidates for a variety of applications ranging from image processing, holographic storage, to optical beam combining. Cadmium telluride crystals doped with vanadium atoms, CdTe:V, have been shown to have the best sensitivity among known semiconductor photorefractive materials. With manganese as the new co-dopant along with vanadium, high photorefractive two-wave mixing gain was observed in CdTe:V,Mn at the optical wavelength of 1.064 /spl mu/m in the absence of applied electric fields. The vanadium and manganese codoped CdTe crystals were grown from the melt by the vertical Bridgman technique.
