Abstract
A brief overview of the four-port parameter model for analysis of electromagnetic pulse (EMP) coupling to coaxial cables is provided. The experimental testing designed to help validate the model is described. The focus of this effort is on the external cable parameters. The network parameters obtained from the external response of the four-port model are compared with measured data for various cable configurations. Because each parameter is computed differently, studying the parameters can provide insight not attainable by studying simple cable responses
