Abstract
Electromagnetic pulse (EMP) protection of VHF radio equipment must offer a low shunt path in the frequency range of the EMP discharge, while being transparent at the radio frequency (RF) operating frequencies. The EMP protection offered by a hybrid circuit in VHF range (30 to 90 MHz) is examined. The protection resulting from the application of this type of circuitry, composed of a gas-filled surge arrester, transzorb, and a compensation network, is compared with other classic protection circuits
