  • Abstract
Summary form only given. If an atom interacts with a quasiresonant laser field some mechanical forces act on this atom. In this paper we show that singularities of the light field such as a caustic, a light-shadow boundary, or a cuspidal edge can be used as an atomic mirror, trap or pincer.
