Abstract
Electromagnetic lenses have been applied since early 1950s as a means of obtaining electronic steerable antennas. One weakness of a conventional lens, however, is the fact that only one feed point can be used at a time, in order to generate a single beam in the radiated field. The purpose of this paper is to propose a kind of geodesic lens with an uniform distribution of feeders along the lens input, being all the feeders used at all times, for any direction of the output beam. Therefore, all the feeding points contribute equally to the total radiated power and electronic steering can be obtained by properly setting only the phases of the several supplies at the input of the lens.
