  • Abstract
The paper discusses the performance of a novel test set-up for the measurement of the shielding effectiveness of thin films on plastic substrate in the frequency range from 30 MHz up to 8 GHz. The design of a flanged coaxial sample holder and the validation of the test procedure are supported by three-dimensional full-wave numerical simulations. The effects of sample bonding and of capacitive coupling between the test specimen and the flanged coaxial holder are discussed. The novel test set-up is applied to the measurement of the shielding effectiveness of metallic coatings on polycarbonate foil and of transparent metals.
