Abstract
In the field of optimization of hybrid renewable energy systems, maximum power extraction is still an important issue. For simulation purposes, accurate models are needed including all the losses in the different components of such systems. Among them, iron, mechanical and rotor copper losses in electrical machines are not always taken into account and are rather difficult to evaluate at variable speed and with PWM supply. This paper presents a practical and easy way for global loss modeling of an induction machine with the help of the Design of Experiments. This technique is simple since it requires a limited number of experiments and it provides the possibility to take into account several factors and their interactions.
