Abstract
Frequency agility and tunability is necessary for many applications of high power microwave sources. Frequency characteristics of a distributed feedback resonant traveling wave tube with high efficiency are investigated in this paper. Frequency hopping of the device is achieved by controlling the longitudinal mode competition. The experiments have been carried out and high power microwave with dual-modes output are obtained. When the voltage is about 680 kV, microwave with power of 2.1GW, frequency of 9.3GHz and efficiency of 41% is generated. Meanwhile, microwave with power of 1.2GW, frequency of 10.3GHz and efficiency of 35% is also generated while the voltage is about 580kV.
