Abstract
The results of experiments on propagation of electromagnetic ground waves of the decameter range (10 and 15 MHz) radiated by vertical electric dipole over the surface of the saline lake covered by an ice on a path of 1.2 km length are considered. It is experimentally established that the field over a high inductive structure is damped sufficiently less than the field over conducting surface. Experimental values of the module of an attenuation function are essentially more than unity and exceed the value of 2. This effect is caused by the ground wave. The data on the ground wave attenuation which were received in the experiment agree with results of numerical calculations of the electromagnetic field.
