Abstract
We demonstrate controlled, adiabatic tapering of pressurized bismuth hexagonal microstructured optical fibers, enabling holes of diameters <; 300 nm, with controlled collapse, and core sizes <; 1 μm using an elliptical CO2 laser beam profile.
