Abstract
Security is a major concern in the field of networks. Illegal access to resources is hazardous in the same manner as illegal access to data. It may lead to network breakdown or deadlock in the network. A major portion of research works is dedicated to improving the routing protocols or the efficiency of the network. Resource security has been of less concern. Significant work is being done in the field of security in computer networks but security and resource sharing in MANET is an issue that still demands further work. Kerberos is a trusted third party authentication protocol extensively used for security in computer networks. But this algorithm leads to significant delay in the operation hence it would be inept to apply Kerberos to provide security during resource sharing in MANET. This paper proposes a multi level security authentication (MLSA) that provides resource sharing in MANET. The algorithm is inspired by aims at improving the security of the network without affecting the performance.
