  • Abstract
Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in information and communication technology (ICT) play a crucial role in economy growth in Egypt by creating and enabling new job opportunities. In order to sustain and grow, SMEs need to embrace new technologies and develop cost-effective and innovative solutions. Accordingly, SMEs must acquire and adopt knowledge and skills in new and emerging technologies. However, for most SMEs, it could be challenging to bear the cost and complexity of acquiring and adapting emerging technologies. In this paper, we present a case study for an approach to transfer knowledge and best practice in four emerging technologies, namely, semantic, service oriented architecture (SOA), model-driven development (MDD), and ubiquitous computing to SMEs in Egypt. The approach, its implementation, and lesson learned are discussed.
