Abstract
In this paper a CPW-fed conformal slot antenna design has been proposed that produces end-fire radiation. Conventional slot antennas use large tapers to produce end-fire radiation. The presence of large tapers in the antenna can lead to antenna breakage when it is mounted on a high speed vehicle such as a missile. The design in this paper is capable of producing end-fire radiation without using a long taper in the antenna and thus can be mounted on a missile. The antenna produces end-fire radiation at 12 GHz with 120 and 60 degree -5 db beamwidths in E-plane and H-plane respectively. The antenna covers an impedance bandwidth of 13.3%. Moreover the effects of curvature over radiation pattern are also calculated when the antenna needs to be flush mounted inside the cylindrical shell of missile or any curved body.
