EMC market surveillance tests for UPS systems in Finland. Only one third was compliant!

First, this paper presents a description of the Finnish EMC market surveillance system. Then, the first extensive EMC market surveillance project in Finland is recounted. The project was made for uninterruptible power systems (UPS) and, in the project, the Finnish UPS market was monitored, manufacturers and importers were identified, many documents were requested and checked and altogether 14 different UPS unit types were EMC tested. The results were surprising; only 35% of the tested UPS systems fulfilled the EMC protection requirements
