Abstract
This paper presents a carbon nanotube antenna array for wireless application operating at 5.8 GHz. The conventional metals such as copper for radiating elements has been replaced by a new technology of carbon nanotube (CNT) with high conductivity, corrosion resistance, and light weight. The reflection coefficient (S11 ), radiation efficiency, gains and radiation patterns have been investigated with different value of electrical conductivity of single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) and with hybrid antenna which consists of SWCNT and copper. The electrical conductivity of single wall carbon nanotube depends on the purity and synthesis process of the CNT, which can escalate up to 109 S/m. The results of the proposed CNT antenna such as reflection coefficient, gains, radiation efficiencies and radiation patterns for all proposed designs are presented. Simulated results show an improvement in antenna efficiency and gain whenever electrical conductivity is increased.
