Abstract
The relation between the eigenvalues of a physical system and the dynamic properties of its subsystems has been an important topic in industry and academia. Understanding such relation can help the synthesis of high performance dynamic systems. However, the study of this problem is entangled because for a set of interconnected subsystems, which exchange energy/power with one another, loading effects can not be neglected. The existing eigenvalue synthesis approaches for such systems may not be efficient. In this paper, interconnected physical systems are investigated in a control engineering perspective. Parallels are drawn between closed loop systems and systems with loading effects. Several theorems are then developed for effective eigenvalue synthesis of physical systems
