Abstract
Personalisation is gaining more and more attention as the unique selling point of mobile devices. Future mobile terminals should be intelligent enough to match users´ unique needs and preferences and provide personalised assistance for mobile users. Personal assistant agents are an enabling technology for the realisation of personalisation for mobile users. Personal assistant agents observe user behaviour and make mobile services more valuable for users by making them easier to use and more adaptive. This paper has two main contributions. First, it studies the evolution of personal assistant agents from when they were introduced until their current applications in mobile telecommunications. Secondly, it highlights the personal agent migration problem and presents a solution to this problem. A migration policy based on user classification is proposed to enhance the performance of mobile services.
