  • Abstract
Current recreational and industrial 3D controllers are cumbersome in design and can be difficult to use, these controllers have supplementary controllers and limited direct control abilities - otherwise observed as restricted simultaneous control of spatial axes. This paper proposes the development of a novel control system, a "quad-sensing 3D controller," that utilizes pre-existing LED and sensor technologies directly mounted on a slid able framework. Via quad-sensing, the position of a movable LED can be determined in Euclidean space. The proposed controller eliminates the need for supplementary controllers by using several LEDs and sensors. The simplified design of a quad-sensing 3D controller allows for expanded direct control usages, resulting in a controller that can better manipulate objects in 3D space. In comparison to current recreational and industrial 3D controllers, quad-sensing 3D controllers are also more lightweight and cost-effective with the minimization of components.
