Abstract
For WLAN systems that adopt PBCC modulation, reduced-state equalization algorithms are generally used to reduce the computation burden of MLSE. Such equalizers have only high performance, if the overall discrete time system to be equalized is minimum phase. The receiver design of using whitened matched filter (WMF) as the pre-filter and adopting M-algorithm to conduct the following equalization is presented. WMF can transform the channel impulse response (CIR) into its minimum phase equivalent. Computation burden can be reduced greatly by setting proper parameters for M-algorithm. Computer simulation results indicate that when such receiver design is adopted, satisfactory performance can be obtained under various kinds of channel conditions. Thus it shows good prospect in real applications.
