  • Abstract
There is a frequent demand for easily mounted probes for the accurate and non-invasive measurement of fast rising currents and voltages being transmitted along coaxial cables. Using designs basically similar to those already in use with high-power water lines, inductively-coupled current sensors and capacitively-coupled voltage sensors have been developed at Loughborough University with rise times less than 3 ns. Different types of sensors allow measurements with both 50 signal coaxial cables where low voltages are transmitted and high-power coaxial cables where both the voltages (up to 150 kV) and currents are correspondingly larger.
