Wavelength addressing for an efficient photonic subscriber-loop architecture

A wavelength-routed photonic subscriber loop architecture, based on the dynamic call-by-call assignment of a single optical carrier to a bidirectional communication rather than to a dedicated LTU/CPE connection is demonstrated. Besides connectivity, the system performs concentration and protection against failures in the central office and is believed to offer a potentially cost effective solution for broadband subscribers
