Abstract
A remarkable pace at which communication technology is developing has put new demands on audio/video conference and distance learning systems. In response to such requirements, digital technology has been increasingly introduced into the audio component of these systems, namely digital audio mixers and signal processors. They are being integrated into multimedia systems using various communication protocols, and controlled via central processing units and control consoles and panels. However, by simply integrating digital control systems into the already existing analog equipment it is possible to make the most of it, both financially and technologically. This article gives a brief account of such an analog but digitally controlled audio system within a multimedia conference room.
