Abstract
This paper presents efficient video streaming algorithms over wireless local area networks (WLAN). First, we propose multi-client rate distortion optimization technique that optimizes the client to be served, the packet to be transmitted to the client, and the FEC rate used to protect the packet. Second, we proposed multi-client sub-optimal video streaming algorithm that selects packet and FEC rate in a rate distortion optimized manner, but determines the serving sequence of the clients by sorting rate-distortion functions of all clients. Both of the proposed algorithms use importance, dependency, deadline properties of packets, importance factors of clients, and the channel state and capacity parameters to choose a client, packet, and an FEC rate
