Abstract
This paper describes principles of a designed multiple lift control system based on a dedicated distributed architecture. After reviewing dependable concepts and design method used the main attention is focused on the hardware architecture, software and communication services and protocols fitting the application requirements. The project considers also scheduling strategies adapted to the type of building serviced, special policies for maintenance and fire brigade support, and other technicalities that distinguish this real-world task from demonstration examples. The presented solution employs a fail-stop safety model and a dedicated architecture respecting dependability constraints including testability requirements.
