Abstract
Outer and inner bounds are established on the capacity region of two-sender, two-receiver interference channels where one transmitter knows both messages. The transmitter with extra knowledge is referred to as being cognitive. One of the outer bounds is based on the Nair-EI Gamal outer bound for broadcast channels. The inner bound is based on strategies that generalize prior work to include rate-splitting, dirty-paper coding, and carbon-copying. The bounds are demonstrated for Gaussian channels.
