Abstract
By the use of simulations to analyze the impact of the traffic workload characteristics on the system behavior synthetic traces can be used. The advantage of this method in comparison with the use of real traces (trace driven simulation) is the fact that it makes easier the dasiawhat-ifpsila analysis, since experiments can be controlled by modifying the input parameters. In this paper, we present a parameterized synthetical trace generator, called ParaSynTG, which considers most of the observed WWW traffic workload properties. The validation of our trace generator has been done by running experiments and comparisons with results for real traces. We find out, that ParaSynTG is able to generate synthetical traces with nearly the same behavior as the real trace.
