Abstract
This paper presents a new non-iterative algorithm for accurate location of phase-to-earth and phase-to-phase faults on power transmission lines. Input signals of the fault locator are considered as obtained from two-end synchronized measurements of three-phase currents and voltages. High accuracy of fault location is assured by considering a distributed-parameter line model and processing the signals from the fault interval only. The developed algorithm has been thoroughly tested with use of signals generated by ATP-EMTP software for wide range of simulations. Selected results from such testing are presented and discussed.
