Abstract
This paper presents the bit error probability performance, in a Rayleigh fading channel, of a 3×3 multiple input multiple output (MIMO) system in which only one of the transmitter antennas is fed, whereas the others are used as parasitic elements. The transmit power, which feeds only one of the transmit antennas, is used more efficiently than the traditional MIMO systems. The correlation between the transmit antennas is expressed in terms of the mutual empedances between the antennas. The signals received by the receive antennas are assumed to be uncorrelated and combined using maximal ratio combining. Effects of reactive load empedances connected to the parasitic antennas and of the distance between antennas are analysed in comparison with the traditional MIMO systems.
