Abstract
The concept and implementation of a remote laboratory for the design of microcontroller systems is proposed in this paper. Advantages and disadvantages of using remote laboratories in the field of digital electronics for educational and research purposes have been discussed. Different approaches to the problem of remotely modifying hardware interconnections between peripheral devices and the microcontroller are presented, and possible solutions are given. All assumptions and solutions have been confirmed by computer simulations, as well as partial hardware implementation. Furthermore, some selected simulation results are presented and directions for future work have been outlined.
