    Multimedia will play an ever-increasing role in many domains of biomedicine, e.g. in all collaborative technologies in health care delivery (e.g. telemedicine), clinical information systems, global public health networks, emergency communications, remote monitoring, etc. The author therefore overviews the state of the art of relevant multimedia, i.e. video and audio transfer.
