Abstract
Wireless body area network (WBAN) is a body-centric near field wireless communication network. It is a promising new technology for continuously telemedicine monitoring systems. Furthermore, ultra-wideband (UWB) is a promising air interface for near field communication matching the requirements of WBAN. Multipath effect caused by body scattering extremely degrades the QoS of communication. In order to solve this problem, we utilize the RAKE receiver as a demodulator. And we adopt an UWB-based WBAN on-body channel statistic model to evaluate the performance of the RAKE receiver. Finally, the simulation results indicate that the RAKE receiver can improve the QoS of UWB-based WBAN on-body communication.
