Abstract
A blade pitch angle control in Wind Turbine (WT) is important to achieve a constant output torque for attaining stability of WT. Therefore, accurate and effective controlling techniques are proposed and designed to produce constant output torque. In this context, two controlling techniques, i.e. Proportional-Integral (PI) and Fuzzy Logic (FL) based blade pitch angle control is implemented and their performance is analysed. Both the controlling techniques are investigated in terms of torque stability and response time. The proposed system is modelled in MATLAB/Simulink environment. The performance of the system with these control techniques is investigated under variable wind speed conditions such as small and large duration variations, increase and decrease of wind speed. However, the performance of both the systems is found satisfactory, but system with FLC shows better performance as compare to PI based system in terms of settling time.
