Abstract
Walking is the foundation of the people´s social life and gait refers to the gesture when a person is walking. And gait can reflect people´s muscle strength, balance ability, coordination ability and spatial cognitive ability, etc. Inertial Measuring Units (IMU) can be used to estimate people´s gait parameters, coupled with gait phase detection, orientation estimation and position estimation. A novel phase detection algorithm based on adaptive threshold is proposed in this paper, and combining with the complementary filter and Zero Velocity Update Technology (ZUPT), gait parameters of ten subjects were computed, including stride length, gait phase and walking velocity. In the experimental section, the computed result is compared with the ground truth, and the experimental results show that this method is feasible in gait analysis.
