Abstract
This paper proposes an analytical framework for LTE and LTE-Advanced network dimensioning. Our main focus is to provide an efficient analytical tool for downlink coverage analysis in LTE based networks. For effective Signalto-Interference-plus-Noise Ratio (SINR) computation, the exponential effective SINR mapping (EESM) method is used. We propose to use the log skew normal approximation for single carrier SINR evaluation. Then we rely on the lognormal approximation to find the spatial distributions of effective signal to interference-plus-noise ratio for different values of shadowing standard deviation and correlation coefficients. Using Monte Carlo simulations, we show that lognormal distribution provides a good fit for the effective SINR spatial distribution in LTE based networks.
