  • Abstract
An important part of problems in the electricity sector, especially in developing countries, is structural in nature. Processes developed in order to solve structural problems, however, call for detailed analytical data related to the sector. Data resources that can be used in various analyses and evaluations are frequently either totally lacking or insufficiently available in the economics of underdeveloped and developing countries. Data. has been collated in this study-going back as far as available resources permit-in order to analyse the economic and financial structure of the electricity sector in developing countries, with special reference to the private and public domains of that sector. With a view to completeness, the same analyses have also been performed for the industrial sector, observing the same distinction between the private and public domains, and allowing a comparison between the development trends and relationships in the economic and financial structures of the Turkish electricity and industry sectors.
