Abstract
Gas insulated switchgear (GIS) is widely used in high voltage power transmission systems. Condition of GIS is crucial for the whole transmission system. PD (Partial discharge) signal, which contains information about the state of GIS, is important for GIS condition monitoring. An ultra-high frequency (UHF) PD on-site monitoring system of 10 channels, including PD detection system and supervisory system, is designed in this paper. The PD detection system is designed based on field-programmable gate array (FPGA). Supervisory system configures PD detection system and recognizes PD patterns. Laboratory GIS defect models are developed in this paper. Experiment result shows that the system can recognize four common patterns of PD. Furthermore, a monitoring network could be built by several PD detection systems and a supervisory system.
