Abstract
The magnetocaloric effect (MCE) and the giant magnetocaloric effect (GMCE) are not included in the conventional educative programs of sciences and engineering. We consider that MCE and the magnetic systems are an interesting motivation for effective learning in the interdisciplinary field of the Electromagnetism and Thermodynamics. In this work a didactic sequence is proposed, in which science and engineering students know a recent research field and they apply concepts of electromagnetism and thermodynamics to the study of magnetic materials and the magnetic refrigeration.
