Abstract
This paper presents a quick and easy method for establishing the design conditions for a CMOS amplifier such that the design achieves near-optimum performance with respect to gain, bandwidth, noise, distortion, power and cost. The method is based on re-formulating the small-signal equations of circuit behavior in terms of an independent set of physically accessible design parameters. These new equations will enable one to easily identify a design and optimization procedure for any amplifier.
