  • Abstract
Flexible Macroblock Ordering (FMO) is a technique in H.264 allowing encoder to change the order of coding blocking in a frame. Based on the order of coding, FMO can help the encoder to ease error in video transmission. In this work, a FMO explicit map is generated frame-by-frame by consideration the importance of a macroblock (MB) to the other MBs in a slice group and in the next frame. In addition, intra refresh rate is also used to reduce the dependency between frames therefore error propagation could be stopped. Experimental results show that our proposed method gains some improvements in terms of PSNR as compared to some previous methods in which the MB importance is not considered thoroughly to generate FMO maps.
