Abstract
This paper proposes a monopole type MIMO antenna for Long Tern Evolution 700 (LTE 700) band application. The overall dimensions of 70×30×1.6 mm3 of the proposed design are consisting of an antenna portion of 30×30×1.6 mm3 and system ground portion of 45×30×1.6 mm3. The antenna portion is composed of two identical monopole antennas located on FR4 substrate´s top portion. The strips on the front side and those on the back side of the substrate are connected by via-holes. Two strips resonant two modes, respectively. The isolation element extended from the system ground plane is placed between the two monopole antennas to eliminate the induced current between them. This isolation mechanism not only can improve the impedance matching to cover LTE 700 band, but also the antenna´s isolation. The proposed antenna design also has a benefit of planar structure with a compact size.
