  • Abstract
    A novel single-layer wideband cavity-backed E-shaped microstrip patch antenna is proposed. By cutting a U-slot on the E-shaped patch and introducing a rectangle metallic cavity backed on the substrate just under the patch, the proposed antenna can generate very wide impedance bandwidths. Through a two-section microstrip line impedance transformer, the designed microstrip antenna is fed by a 50Ω coplanar microstrip transmission line. The obtained impedance bandwidth reaches about 47%.
