Abstract
This paper will give review about the design of superconducting generator which has power generation rating more than 10MW for offshore wind turbine. Nowadays conventional generators become more bulky and inefficient to increase their power generation rating. Superconductors may be the possible solution to construct wind turbine generator especially for offshore wind farms because superconductors are light in weight and have zero resistivity. Superconductors act as permanent magnet in certain condition so the wound rotor of synchronous generator can be replaced by superconductor. But yet the stator of generator made of superconductor is impractical due to the ac loss of superconductor. Also it is important to choose the proper superconducting material (Among Type-II superconductors) which makes the generator more efficient.
